Moulay Abdellah Stadium (Rabat)

Moulay Abdellah Stadium (Rabat)

Only seven kilometres from the centre of Morocco’s capital, the Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex stands as one of the Kingdom’s most iconic venues. Named in honour of Prince Moulay Abdellah, this modern stadium is the beating heart of football in Rabat and is among the flagship infrastructures of the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025.

Inaugurated on 5 September 2025, the stadium has a capacity of 68,095 seats, expandable to 68,700 for the 2030 World Cup. It is thus the second-largest stadium in the country, just behind the Grand Stade de Tanger. Owned by the Rabat Urban Community and managed by SONARGES, it is part of a vast sports complex that includes an Olympic stadium, a 10,000-seat indoor arena, and an Olympic swimming pool.

A venue looking to the future
Completely renovated several times – notably in 2000, in 2014 for the FIFA Club World Cup, and in 2023 with a full reconstruction – Moulay Abdellah Stadium has been transformed to meet the highest international standards. Its new layout removes the athletics track to create a football-dedicated arena, equipped with modern media facilities (a 600 m² press room, mixed zone, interview room) and VIP boxes suited for major events.

The world-class home of Morocco’s national team, the stadium has already hosted prestigious competitions: AFCON 1988, the FIFA Club World Cups in 2014 and 2022, the 2019 African Games, and the TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, marked by the historic run of the Atlas Lionesses to the final.

A temple of great events

Its history has been shaped by unforgettable nights: AS FAR’s victory in the 1985 African Cup of Champions Clubs, CAF Cup finals, the Atlas Lionesses’ triumph against Nigeria in the 2022 Women’s AFCON semi-final, and the FIFA Club World Cups in 2014 and 2022, including Real Madrid’s victory.
